U.S. Marshals arrested 18-year-old Daviyonte Johnson on Monday, Oct. 26, on an outstanding warrant connected to a homicide investigation in Shreveport, the Shreveport Police Department said.

The arrest stems from a July 6 shooting at Cooper Road Plaza, an apartment complex at 2929 Peach St. The Shreveport Police Department described the case as a homicide investigation.

Two men were shot that day while walking in the breezeways of the apartment complex, according to KSLA. One had life-threatening injuries. The other did not.

Police said the shooting led to a chase after officers responding to the scene spotted a vehicle speeding away. Three men in a Mercedes fled, and the pursuit ended near Booker T. Washington High School, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.

In KSLA's July 6 coverage, Cpl. Chris Bordelon of the Shreveport Police Department said, "I can say right now our officers did not fire their guns and we did not exchange gunfire with the individuals in the vehicle." One police vehicle sustained minor damage during the chase.

Police said one of the two shooting victims was an intended target and the other was an innocent bystander. At least one suspect was waving a gun and shooting from the car during the pursuit, police said.

Jamarcus D. Chatman, 20, from the Dallas area, was also arrested in connection with the shooting. KSLA reported Chatman was arrested July 6, while KTAL reported the arrest occurred July 7. Chatman was charged with attempted second-degree murder, according to KSLA.

Johnson had remained at large until the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested him nearly four months later. He is now in custody.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can contact the Shreveport Police Department or Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
