Shreveport police arrested a former caregiver accused of using a client's personal information to open a utility account that racked up more than $2,300 in charges.
Gabrielle Moore was arrested Saturday, Oct. 24, and booked into Caddo Correctional Center on an identity theft charge, according to KTAL.
Detectives assigned to the Shreveport Police Department's Financial Crimes Task Force began investigating on April 28 after the victim, through his caregiver, reported receiving a SWEPCO bill with a forwarded balance of $2,302.40. The bill was tied to an address where the victim had never lived, police said.
The charges on the account covered electric service from September 2025 through January 2026.
Utility records showed the account had been opened using the victim's personal identifying information, according to police. Account records, recorded customer service calls and associated contact information linked Moore to the account.
Investigators determined Moore had previously worked as the victim's caregiver and had access to his personal information through that job, 710 KEEL reported. During a double-blind photo lineup, the victim identified Moore as his former private caregiver.
Based on the evidence, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Moore with identity theft. All charges are allegations, and Moore is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Moore's bond status and next court date were not available in published reports as of Monday, Oct. 26.
